The passionate Land and Sea team is closely led by the directors, Phil Calothi and Richard Calothi. We all work closely together as a team. Each client is served by a designated portfolio manager and property administrator. Management meetings with the portfolio managers and administrators are held on a regular basis to monitor and discuss each client in order to ensure that every client is being managed properly.
Our team consists of the following individuals:
Philip Calothi Founder/Director
Phil holds a BSc Engineering from UCT and has 34 years experience in the property field as a building contractor, roads & services contractor, civil engineering consultant, multidisciplinary project manager, property developer, property manager and property administrator.
He was the Managing Director of the Club Mykonos Group of companies from 1999 to 2009 during which period of time he was instrumental in ensuring the timeous repayment by Club Mykonos of all its debts to its Masterbond investors and managed the business from a position of technical insolvency into a position of no debt and positive shareholder value. At the end of 2008, he resigned from the Club Mykonos group to return to private practice.
A major contributory factor to the above achievements was his successful development and subsequent management of several private residential developments. He has served as a Trustee and Chairman on the boards of numerous sectional title schemes and homeowners associations and possesses extensive experience in the management and administration of bodies corporate. Phil specialises in providing trustees with guidance and assistance in the proper corporate governance of private estates and apartment complexes. In order to achieve this, he makes it a major priority to attend every meeting of the trustees and members of the bodies corporate served by Land & Sea.
Richard Calothi Managing Director
Richard holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Finance and Economics at the University of Cape Town and holds eight years of extensive experience in the managing agent industry under the supervision of Phil Calothi. Richard has an in depth understanding of sectional title and homeowner’s association financial management and corporate governance. Richard is also responsible for the management of the Land and Sea Company.
Dhivya Naidoo Portfolio Manager
Dhivya is one of our portfolio managers, having extensive experience in building and property management. Dhivya holds a certificate of Sectional Title Management from the University of Cape Town’s Faculty of Law, a certificate of Advanced Sectional Title Scheme Management, as well as NFQ Level 4. She also has over eighteen years experience in the sectional title industry.
TASHRIQ BAPOO Portfolio Manager
Tashriq is one of our newest portfolio managers starting in May 2019 and brings with him a number of years of experienace in sectional title management. He is a young, enthusiast and confident individual always providing his best possible service to his clients at all times and continuingly looking to grow his knowledge and experience in the sectional title management industry.
Leigh Bartlett Accounts
Leigh currently manages all our clients accounting. She is an experienced accounting and administrative professional with qualifications in financial accounting, economics, corporate business, management principles and corporate governance. Together with her twenty years of experience in the industry, this makes her very competent in her position and an integral part of our team.
Suzanne Keet Senior Account Administrator
Suzanne has been with the company since inception. She originally joined the Club Mykonos Group in 1994 as a receptionist and was promoted in due course to an account administrator position where she excelled under the direction of Phil Calothi. When Land and Sea Development Services commenced business in 2009, she was one of the Company’s first employees and now heads our account administration team. Suzanne is a determined, loyal and extremely accurate administrator and we are proud to have her on our team.
Petula Makeleni Account Administrator
Petula has been with Land & Sea since its incorporation and since then has become a key employee of this company. Originally starting off as the receptionist, she has shown a continuous devotion to learn and is now also the account administrator for a number of clients.
Alan October Maintenance Manager
Alan joined Land and Sea in February 2021 as a maintenance manager in order to bring his expertise in maintenance to assist the portfolio managers and their clients. Alan has a considerable amount of experience dealing with maintenance issues and has also done contractor work in the past. Alan has a number of years woking in building and facilities compliance and maintenance. We are confident that he will add a great amount of value to the Land and Sea team and the clients that we serve.
